The Government of Canada has announced that it is transitioning towards direct deposit as the primary payment method for all federal payments issued by the Receiver General.

The CRA will notify you when important changes are made to your account, such as direct deposit. For more information, please visit the Email Notifications page on the CRA website. Remember: The CRA will never send you an email, text or Interac e-Transfer link asking for your personal information to receive your benefit payment or refund. We are here to help you set up direct deposit with CRA for the first time or to change your existing direct deposit information at another financial institution to your Vancity account. This will replace all previous CRA direct deposit authorizations for individuals and only your payroll account (RP) for businesses.

As part of this initiative cheque stubs will no longer be printed starting the spring of 2015.

In order to receive direct deposits, recipients who currently receive payments by cheque are strongly encouraged to enroll in direct deposit by providing their banking information.

Why choose direct deposit?

Direct deposit is:

  • Convenient – Payments will arrive in your bank account without mailing delays
